I met with my mentor earlier this week at Starbucks like I normally do. However, this last time it was less about my future and more about my spring break. For spring break this year, I went on a missions trip to Uganda with the football team team.  My time in Uganda was amazing, it is a country full of young children who are always looking to have fun whenever they can. During our time there, we probably encountered over 3,500 kids who all wanted to play with the football players. It was a great time playing with all of the children while also having the opportunity to serve them by doing some construction for their community. Even though the kids were always wanting to play, there was an overall depression in the people of Uganda. The living conditions of Uganda are very harsh and at sometimes unimaginable for a person like me.  After going on this trip, I was able to realize the importance of helping the poor, orphans, and widows. God calls us to take care of them, but sometimes it can be hard to remember when we lived in a blessed country like America. I encourage everyone to continue to have these people in your prayers and also to find different ways in which you can help the poor, orphans, and widows. This will look different for all of us, but find a way to do what you can to help.

  1. The fact that you are willing to leave the country and go serve those in need as far away as uganda is just unbelieveable. I play with you and I know how great of a man of God you are and how awesome it is that you were able to spread the love of God to the childrean of Uganda.

  2. Carson, this is such an important thing to realize for us as Christians. I totally agree that everyone needs to go on not just one but multiple trips like this to truly see what other people in this world go through. God calls us to help the less fortunate but sometimes it can be hard to see due to the country we live in. Thank you for sharing such an encouraging message!
