In speaking with my mentor for the final time, we discussed how living with purpose is something that many fail to do, but it is beneficial for a happy, successful life. Especially a this time in life for me, it can feel as if anything that is done is done devoid of purpose or reason. Without immediate feedback, it can seem as if all the effort is leading to absolutely nowhere anytime soon. Perhaps the reason for feeling as if nothing is worth the effort is because of the joy-sucking habit of comparison. My mentor said that purpose is bigger than what you are doing compared to what someone else is doing. A better way looking at it is to see your life compared to what God wants for you. For example, there are things that God makes clear that we are supposed to be doing like loving those around us, helping the poor, and doing all things for the glory of Christ. If God is the only one we are living to please, we lose the hindrance of comparison to other people, and we are set free to grow in Christ. I do not think that we need to be constantly running around trying to discover our purpose, but rather it is in experiencing God that our purpose will be made known. If we experience God, then we will experience purpose.
I think this is an awesome post. No matter how big or small our lives may be/ no matter how central they are to the universe, God wants to be part of it all. All of our life. That's awesome!
