For this final blog post, I wanted to share several things that were on my mind and how my mentor has helped me through these things. The main idea lies around our belief as Christians to evangelize but also to remain sensitive to the beliefs of others. Often times when we share our beliefs with another, barriers are put up. I wanted to know how can one still share this message, but in a way that removes the barriers. Funny enough, we touched on it in class, but the best way is through another's initiation of the conversation. Through simply saying what one might have done a specific weekend, more questions can arise by the other. A person must be willing to receive the message before they receive it. This often can play into management and wanting to change a culture or how people operate. No change will happen unless the person is willing. We simply need change make them aware of the need to change.
Interesting ideas on the subject of being willing to listen to others. I think we sometimes have trouble listening because we haven't humbled ourselves. But when we humble ourselves and listen we can learn so much more than we believe that we could.
ReplyDeleteThats really awesome that you and your mentor can begin to tackle what a lot of us Christians have seen a hard time with. I know peresonally that I have had struggles to try to find a way to talk to people with other beliefs while stil being open and not offensive in some way.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, this is always something that is on my mind to try to keep an open mind, and be humble and hospital to others opinion.
