This semester I have been discussing with my mentor about specific strides for me that would be the most beneficial for my future. I am currently a double major with business ethics and theology. We talked about which route would be best to pursue in the immediate future so I am better off in the long term. I had been thinking about this for a long time, and measuring the pros and cons about what can come from continuing the double major track or dropping one into a minor to focus on boosting my GPA. My mentor talked me through the interview process at churches versus the interview process at businesses, and how some churches do not necessarily need, and or care, about education as much as others. So depending on whatever church I apply to I would need to have that in mind. Finally, my mentor told me many options of what my career could come out to with and without getting a double major, but he never told me what to do. He left that between God and I.

  1. It is great to see that your mentor and yourself are on the same page concerning your future plans. There is a lot of strategy that takes place whether choosing from interviewing for businesses rather than churches. This will most likely be a long-term challenge in the future.

  2. That's awesome that he encouraged you without telling you exactly what to do. What you plan to do with your life is between decisions are between you and God. An encouraging poem our swim coach Jon Leaderhouse always say, "only one life will soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last, at the end of my life how happy I'll be if the lamp of my life has been burned out for thee" -C.T Studd

  3. That's really encouraging to hear that he is helping you navigate what to do while making sure the final decision is between you and God. I tend to want to figure things out on my own and get people to tell me what to do, so I found it very insightful that he made sure to emphasize the importance of you seeking God in your decision

  4. These are both great options! Either you open your options with the double major or you become more qualified in one major. I believe that this is something that is very important to pray about. Only God knows what is best for you. God will lead you to the right path. No matter what you pick, your getting a degree from Wheaton College and thats impressive.
